Pickleball in Naples Florida The Best Communities, Courts and Why Everyone Is Obsessed

Pickleball in Naples Florida – The Best Communities, Courts and Why Everyone Is Obsessed

This If you’ve been researching second homes in Naples Florida, you’ve probably already noticed one thing everyone here is obsessed with pickleball.

Want to schedule a morning coffee with a friend? Sorry… pickleball. Trying to book a work call at 8am? Not a chance. Pickleball takes priority.

I’m Kimberley Menkhorst, Naples luxury realtor specializing in second homes and relocation for CEOs, founders and legacy-driven families buying in the $1-4 million range. And I can tell you firsthand,  I’ve had multiple clients in recent months who told me upfront that pickleball courts were a non-negotiable in their community search. Not a nice-to-have. A requirement.

So if you’re buying a second home in Naples Florida and pickleball matters to your lifestyle or you’re just curious what all the noise is about, this post is for you.

Why Naples Florida Is the Pickleball Capital of the World

Naples Florida was officially named the Pickleball Capital of the World and it’s not just a marketing title. Naples earned it through the sheer popularity of the sport here and because Naples hosts the annual Minto U.S. Open Pickleball Championships, one of the most prestigious pickleball tournaments in the country. The event draws over 10,000 people per day and puts Naples on the global map for the sport every single year.

During season, the Naples Pickleball Center reports 300-400 players daily at park leagues alone and that doesn’t even account for the thousands playing in private communities across the city.

If you’re relocating to Naples Florida or buying a luxury second home here, pickleball isn’t just a hobby it’s a lifestyle that shapes which community you’ll want to live in.

Why Are Naples Buyers Obsessed With Pickleball?

I went straight to the source. I interviewed clients and friends who play regularly and asked them why pickleball has taken over their lives in Naples. The same four reasons came up every single time.

1. It’s a social sport first

Unlike golf or tennis where you show up, play and leave,  pickleball comes with theme nights, group travel, tournaments, happy hours and a built-in social circle. For buyers relocating to Naples Florida from Illinois, New York, Chicago or Boston, many of whom don’t know a single person in town, pickleball has become the fastest way to build a community. Most of the players I spoke with said their entire Naples social circle came directly from the courts.

2. Every level is welcome

Whether you’ve never held a paddle or you’re competing in tournaments there’s a spot for you. Pick-up games at the park, community leagues, evening games. The barrier to entry is essentially zero and the community is genuinely welcoming to newcomers.

3. It fits a busy schedule

For CEOs, executives and business owners who are still working while enjoying their Naples second home, pickleball fits. A quick morning game, an evening match, a weekend tournament. Unlike golf which takes half a day minimum, pickleball can be done in an hour and you’re back at your desk. For out-of-state buyers who split their time between Naples and their home city, this flexibility is a significant draw.

4. It’s easier on the body

The number one reason pickleball has replaced tennis for so many Naples residents. It’s significantly easier on the joints. You stay active, you stay fit, you stay competitive without the physical strain that comes with running a full tennis court. For buyers in their 50s, 60s and 70s who want to stay active well into retirement, this is a game changer.

Where to Play Pickleball in Naples Florida

East Naples Community Park

The crown jewel of Naples pickleball is East Naples Community Park, home to 66 pickleball courts, a welcome center, a pro shop and ongoing expansion plans. This is where the Minto U.S. Open Pickleball Championships is held every year and it’s the ultimate destination for serious players. Whether you’re a beginner or a competitive player this is where Naples pickleball lives.

Private Community Courts

Almost every private gated community in Naples now offers pickleball courts. Many communities were originally built with tennis courts, and the majority of those courts have since been converted to either full pickleball or hybrid courts with rollaway nets so residents can play both sports.

Some communities have gone even further, building entire pickleball complexes to meet resident demand. And yes, I personally know of three buyers who have built private pickleball courts on their own property. Most recently a buyer purchased an empty lot in a high-end Naples communities, such as Livingston Woods, Oakes Estates, Pine Ridge Estates & Logan Woods specifically to build their own court. Their neighbors in the multimillion dollar community may have some thoughts about the sound, but that’s a story for another day.

The Top Naples Communities With the Most Pickleball Courts

If pickleball is a priority in your second home search in Naples Florida, here are the top communities to put on your shortlist:

1. Isles of Collier Preserve – one of Naples’ most pickleball-forward communities with a dedicated and highly active player base

2. Treviso Bay a resort-style community with exceptional amenities including extensive pickleball facilities

3. Grey Oaks – one of Naples’ most prestigious communities offering pickleball alongside world-class golf and resort amenities in the $2M-$10M+ price range

Beyond these three, communities like Fiddler’s Creek, Lely Resort and Esplanade at Hacienda Lakes all offer strong pickleball programs worth exploring depending on your price range and lifestyle preferences.

What This Means for Your Naples Second Home Search

If pickleball is important to your lifestyle, and for many of my buyers it absolutely is. It needs to be part of the community conversation from day one. Not all communities are equal when it comes to court availability, league structure and the social culture around the sport. Some communities have courts but no active leagues. Others have waiting lists for court time during season.

This is exactly the kind of detail I cover in the Lavish Legacy Assessment, a free 15-minute call where we map your lifestyle priorities, including how you want to spend your mornings, against the specific communities that match. If pickleball is on your list we’ll make sure the community you choose actually delivers.

The Bottom Line on Pickleball in Naples Florida

Naples Florida didn’t become the Pickleball Capital of the World by accident. The sport has become deeply woven into the fabric of daily life here, and for buyers relocating from up north, it’s often one of the first things that turns a Naples visit into a Naples purchase. The courts, the community, the climate and the culture all align perfectly.

Helping Buyers and Sellers Navigate Naples With Clarity

Shops on Fifth Avenue Naples Florida

I’m Kimberley Menkhorst, a Naples local since 2007 and Broker Associate with Lavish Listings Naples at Premiere Plus Realty.

I work primarily with CEOs, founders, executives and legacy-minded families purchasing second and third homes throughout Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero and Southwest Florida.

Nearly 90% of my clients are out of state and not physically present during the buying or selling process. That means my role extends far beyond opening doors or writing contracts.

My clients rely on me to help them understand which communities truly hold long-term value, the hidden ownership costs most buyers overlook, flood and insurance considerations, HOA and condo financial health, renovation and redevelopment potential, rental flexibility and future resale liquidity, which properties fit both lifestyle and long-term goals, and which communities may not be the right fit depending on your situation and lifestyle.

They also rely on the trusted network I have built over nearly two decades in Naples, including inspectors, attorneys, contractors, insurance professionals, lenders, property managers and local vendors who help ensure everything is handled properly and efficiently when my clients are hundreds or thousands of miles away.

Before real estate, I served as Director of Marketing for a Naples-based company overseeing a $1.2 billion portfolio. That background shapes how I approach real estate today.

I understand buyer psychology, digital marketing, branding, positioning, online visibility, strategic pricing and how to make a property stand out in an increasingly crowded market. In today’s environment, simply listing a property is not enough. Presentation, positioning, storytelling and strategic exposure matter more than ever.

My goal is never to pressure clients into a transaction. My role is to provide clarity, honest insight and a process that feels calm, informed and well-managed from beginning to end.

Because the right home in Naples is not just a purchase. It is often a lifestyle shift, a long-term investment and a place where future memories, family traditions and legacy are built.
